How to prep for a newborn session

There is some prep and planning involved to make the session more successful.

I. We want a sleepy baby!

Babies pose better when they a in deep sleep. To achieve this I recommend stimulating baby at least two hours before my arrival, a warm bath usually does the trick. Babies sleep best when the room is nice and warm, so turning the heat up 2-3 degrees is ideal.

II. Feeding

If baby is breastfed, avoid caffeinated and carbonated drinks, as well as gassy and spicy foods 24 hours prior to session. Once I arrive you will feed your baby while I setup. Some babies will want to comfort suck which is not ideal, having extra milk in a bottle is helpful for me to feed baby during the session. If this is not something you are comfortable with that is okay, I just want to provide you with tips for a very successful session. If we need to stop for a ‘top up’, we can.

III. Clothing.

Dress baby in a button/zip up outfit, nothing that goes over baby’s head and loosen their diaper to reduce the creases in their skin.

IIII. Pacifier

A pacifier is HIGHLY encouraged. Usage will be minimal just for the 2 hours that I’m posing baby it can really help. Ultimately, your baby runs the how so if he/she is fussy it is important for you to remain calm.

Lifestyle Session

I. Location

Lifestyle Newborn sessions are done at your home. If you have selected the Lifestyle + Wrapped Mini packaged, the lifestyle session will take place after the wrapped session. Please ensure the living room, master bedroom and

nursery are clean and free of clutter. Floors, beds, tabletops, nightstands should be clear of books, coffee mugs, breast pump parts.

II. What to wear

This is meant to be real life! Wear what you are most comfortable in. I do suggest neutral colours, steering away from t-shirts with logos or bold patterns. Think cozy day are home, something light and flowy for mom and and a simple tshirt or sweater for dad. Please pick out a fitted newborn onsie that is a neutral colour. Please no detailed outfits as they tend to ride

up and can cover the baby’s face. A simple onsie will also allow for wrapping.

We are absolutely thrilled with the final edits and have received so many compliments. We will definitely be using her services in the future!”"
